Datelined March 4, 1895 at Kohala, Hawaii, this UX8 postal card bears a strike of the Kohala Catholic Mission, AUXPRICHAR-KohalaCatholic. Postal markings are the Kohala style 282.012, dated March 4, 1895, and Honolulu type 231.72 dated March 5, 1895.

Honolulu Catholic Mission

Catholic missionaries entered the erstwhile exclusive Protestant field in Hawaii with great difficulty. Father Reginald Yzendoorn ably wrote the history of their mission in "History of the Catholic Mission in Hawaii," Honolulu Star-Bulletin, 1927.
